CCTV ApplicationsClosed Circuit Television ApplicationsClosed Circuit Television (CCTV) has become an excepted tool for crime control, entry control, theft deterrent and detection, intruder tracking and general surveillance especially when dealing with large CCTV systems within integrated applications. These applications can be monitored continuously from purpose built environments and control centres or triggered by temp change, air pressure drop, noise level changes, infra red or laser sensors, and pressure switches to name but a few. CCTV has very quickly become an essential tool in reducing crime and/or ensuring high convictions rates of offenders. Legislation thought at the time to be un-enforceable such as anti litter campaigns become feasible with wide area coverage by a single operator and faced with real time footage avoid costly court time. Thus, the sight of security cameras has now become acceptable and common place throughout the UK and covers domestic housing through to government installations. The most recent growth area is one of public area surveillance with a crime reduction rate directly related to investment. In Britain alone between £160 and £300 million pounds (320 - 600 million dollars) annually is invested in surveillance equipment. Other countries have now become aware the part CCTV is playing in crime reduction and the solving of committed crimes across the whole spectrum. The UK is clearly a leader in the introduction of CCTV making it an ideal country to source surveillance expertise and find companies dedicated to the installation of the relevant equipment.
